Volunteers - It takes all of us

24 Jun by Justin Rumble

As we move through the season, we want to acknowledge the incredible work of our volunteers and remind everyone just how important volunteering is to the success of our junior football and netball programs.

Our club simply cannot operate without volunteers. Every game day role, canteen shift, first aid duty, boundary umpire, scorer, team manager, BBQ helper and setup or pack-up task is completed by parents and community members giving up their time.

Volunteering doesn’t always mean taking on a major role. Often it simply means seeing something that needs doing and helping out. If the bins are full, equipment needs packing away, a room needs tidying, or someone needs a hand, taking the initiative makes a huge difference.

There are also a number of simple tasks that need to be completed throughout every home game day, including checking toilets and amenities, monitoring rubbish bins and ensuring our facilities remain clean and welcoming. These checks occur throughout the day and rely on everyone doing their part.

At times, helping out may mean sacrificing an hour of watching your child play so that another family can watch theirs. While that can be difficult, it is part of the shared commitment that allows all of our children to participate and enjoy their sport.

We ask all families to:
• Help out when you see a need.
• Take initiative rather than waiting to be asked.
• Communicate with your roster manager if you cannot complete a shift.
• Support the volunteers already giving their time.

We also continue to seek additional support for our Junior Committee. Ideally, we would like at least one parent representative from every netball age group and two parents from every football age group. Committee members help organise functions, presentation days and nights, fundraising activities and assist with the presentation and cleanliness of our facilities. No experience is required, and the workload is shared.

Our club belongs to all of us. The more people who contribute, the lighter the load becomes and the stronger our club will be.

Many hands make light work, and together we can create an environment where we all contribute to a club we love being a part of.
